DIBELS requires the administrator to deliver precise instructions based on a student’s specific answers to probe questions. mCLASS:DIBELS displays prompts that are appropriate to given student responses, making the assessment easier for educators to learn and helping to ensure that it is given correctly.

For example, the Initial Sound Fluency (ISF) probe assesses a child's ability to identify and produce the initial sound of a given word. As shown here, a prompt on the handheld clearly guides the teacher with the proper administrative instructions and also provides thumbnail versions of the pictures being displayed to the student.
